Moonshots in Mental Health: Transforming Care Through Innovation

Dear IFB Global Family,

At long last, we're delighted to announce that our IFB Global session, Moonshots in Mental Health: Transforming Care Through Innovation at the University of Toronto, and Beyond, has been rescheduled!

We're especially pleased to bring together three remarkable leaders from the University of Toronto's Department of Psychiatry for a conversation about some of the boldest ideas emerging in mental health research—and what it will take to turn breakthrough science into meaningful, scalable impact.

Mental illness remains one of the defining health challenges of our time. Yet advances in neuroscience, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and brain-based therapies are opening extraordinary possibilities to rethink how we diagnose, treat, and ultimately transform mental healthcare.

Date: November 4, 2026
Time: 9h ET / 2pm UK / 3pm CET
Register: https://impactforbreakfast.com/eventpage?eid=kuB8nMC3

Joining us for this special conversation:

  • Dr. Simone Vigod, Chair of the University of Toronto's Department of Psychiatry, will open with perspectives on building an innovation ecosystem that connects frontier science, translational research, and real-world healthcare transformation.

  • Dr. Daphne Voineskos, Associate Professor and Clinician Scientist, will share insights from pioneering research aimed at making treatments for severe and treatment-resistant depression more personalized and effective.

  • Dr. Sean Nestor, Researcher and Innovator in Brain Health and Precision Psychiatry, will explore emerging brain-based approaches and how precision psychiatry could help transform treatment pathways for people who have not responded to conventional care.

Beyond the science, we'll explore the role of philanthropy, catalytic capital, and cross-sector collaboration in accelerating the journey from promising discoveries to accessible, scalable mental health solutions.

How can investors and philanthropists help bridge the gap between breakthrough research and clinical practice? What will it take to move from fragmented treatment pathways toward more precise, personalized care? And where might the next great mental health moonshots emerge?

We hope you'll join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking and inspiring global exchange.

Important: Please note that there is a NEW Zoom link on the updated invitation page. Kindly use the fresh link provided here to join the session.

Thank you for your patience as we've worked to bring this conversation back onto the calendar. We're looking forward to finally gathering everyone for it!

Warm regards,
Audrey & The IFB/Artha Team
