Fintech is disrupting microfinance and financial inclusion. As a leading country in development finance, with sustainable investments reaching CHF 390.6 billion in 2017, what does that mean for Switzerland?
The speaker will use KiWi as an example to illustrate how the Swiss Development Finance industry could go more direct after emerging market consumers, thanks to the rise of the digital ecosystem.
In any case, Fintech will contribute to a strong acceleration of financial inclusion. The question is whether Switzerland will be fast and ambitious enough to seize the opportunity.
Speaker: Christian Sinobas, CEO - KiWi
Date: November 27, 2019
Time: 9am - 11am
KiWi is the fintech app of micro-businesses in emerging markets. With their app, micro-entrepreneurs can accept card payments, manage their business and sell new services. KiWi uses cash-flow data to score micro-businesses and give them access to micro-credit. They managed to automate and centralize most of its sales and operations processes from Switzerland. To date, it serves 25'000 micro-businesses in Mexico, adding 2'000 per month without any sales people, with plans to scale in other markets from 2020.
