How Illumen Capital is working to increase racial and gender equity within our financial markets

Please join ImpactPHL and Halloran Philanthropies as we host Essma Bengabsia, Senior Associate, Sustainable & Impact Investing at Glenmede Trust in Philadelphia as she leads a fireside chat between Daryn Dodson, founder and Managing Director of Illumen Capital, and Evelyn Morfin, Manager of Direct Investments at 4S Bay Partners. Illumen Capital is a majority Black-owned and led impact fund working to increase racial and gender equity within our financial markets. They invest capital in the world's top venture, growth, and private equity impact funds, and then equip the fund management teams over the hold period with evidence-based training designed to reduce implicit racial and gender bias. This combination of capital and implicit bias coaching is intended to drive alpha across both social and financial returns.

 Our Moderator and Speakers:

Essma Bengabsia:  Senior Associate in Sustainable & Impact Investing at Glenmede. She is also a World Economic Forum Global Shaper in Philadelphia. Essma completed her Bachelor's Degree at New York University's Stern School of Business, where she studied Finance, Computing and Data Science, and Politics.

Daryn Dodson-  Founder and Managing Director of Illumen Capital, the world’s first private equity firm dedicated to reducing implicit bias across financial markets to unlock returns and impact. Illumen Capital invests in the world’s top impact fund managers and applies research-based interventions in partnership with Stanford University to help fund managers to see past race and gender bias to focus on value.

Evelyn Morfin: Manager of direct investments at 4S Bay Partners, LLC, an impact investing fund that invests across asset classes to promote education, human rights, environmental protection, the preservation of cultural heritage, and wellness.
