Life Lessons from Asia's Social and Environmental Innovation Pioneer

IFB Seoul is delighted to welcome you to join a morning with Moon Kook-Hyun, one of the most respected business leaders in social and environmental responsibility in Korea and Asia.  

Known as the "Paul Polman" of Korea, the former CEO of Yuhan-Kimberly achieved a distinguished business track record while leading some of the most transformative environmental campaigns in the country and beyond. This includes founding the "Keep Korea Green" and "Forest for Life" campaigns, planting tens of millions of trees and playing pivotal roles in greening of Seoul and the country. 

This event will continue the series on "Beyond ESG," with insights from business and investment leaders positively impacting society and organizations.

Speaker Bio

Mr. KH Moon currently serves as the Chairman & CEO of the New Paradigm Institute. Mr. Moon gained widespread recognition for his exceptional leadership as the CEO of Yuhan-Kimberly, a joint venture between Kimberly-Clark and Yuhan. During his 13-year tenure, Yuhan-Kimberly transformed from a struggling company into one of the most respectful and admired company in Korea and Asia. The company grew more than tenfold thanks to its new leadership’s focus on continued innovation and entrepreneurship from all levels. Additionally, Mr. Moon served as the Group President and Chairman of Kimberly-Clark North Asia, where he played a pivotal role in driving the corporation's growth and success.

Mr. Moon's passion for environmental conservation is commendable. In 1984, he spearheaded the groundbreaking "Keep Korea Green" campaign, the first-ever company-sponsored environmental initiative in Korea. In recognition of his various outstanding efforts in environmental protection and education, Mr. Moon received the prestigious Global 500 Roll of Honor from the United Nations Environmental Program in 1997.

Furthermore, Mr. Moon is a globally respected leader in the realm of workplace lifelong learning. He introduced the highly successful LifeLong Learning Cafeteria model at Yuhan-Kimberly and Kimberly-Clark Companies in North Asia.

In 2004, his expertise in this field led to his appointment as the Chairman of the Presidential Special Committee on People-Centered New Competitiveness, inspiring over 100 companies and institutions to adopt tailored LifeLong Learning Cafeteria models with great success.

Mr. Moon's contributions extend to the realm of international collaborations and movements. In 2006, he established the Peter Drucker Society of Korea, furthering the principles and teachings of management guru Peter Drucker. He has played a pivotal role in global initiatives such as the Drucker Management Paths, Top 250 Management Rankings, and Corporate Effectiveness Index. Moreover, at the ILERA World Congress in 2018, Mr. Moon took the initiative in formulating the Seoul Declaration on the 4th Industrial Revolution and LifeLong Learning. In recognition of his achievements, he was honored with the ILERA Professional Excellence Award in 2021 in Lund, Sweden.

In addition to his notable accomplishments in business and academia, Mr. Moon has made notable contributions to politics. He previously served as President of the Creative Korea Party and was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 2008, demonstrating his commitment to public service.

Continuing his endeavors, Mr. Moon co-founded the International Electric Vehicle Expo (IEVE) in 2014 and established the Silicon Valley Business Forum (SVBF) in 2019. Furthermore, he currently serves as an advisor to the Presidential Committee on National Cohesion, lending his expertise to promote unity and collaboration within the nation.
