Artificial Intelligence & Social Impact

A conversation with thought leaders and practitioners

Dear Friends & Colleagues in the Impact Space,

We are thrilled to invite you to the next Impact for Breakfast DC event! As we continue to explore pressing global challenges, we are excited to focus this upcoming session on the intersection of social impact and artificial intelligence, a topic shaping the future of equitable development and innovation.

Join us at Duke in DC (1201 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) on November 20th at 8am for coffee, a light breakfast, and an inspiring panel discussion with speakers from IDInsight and Omidyar Network. Chris Jurgens, Senior Director at Omidyar, will moderate a conversation with Becca Sharp, CEO of IDInsight, Sid Ravinutala, Chief Data Scientist at IDinsight and Govind Shivkumar, Director of for-profit investments in AI. with moderation by Chris Jurgens, Senior Director at Omidyar. Together the speakers will explore the current state of the market, requirements for ensuring more equitable access to compute, data and talent, and opportunities they are seeing for investment and AI applications for social impact.

Organizations like Omidyar Network and IDInsight are leading the charge in leveraging data and AI to drive social change—whether it’s deploying data science for informed decision-making in the Global South or shaping investment in responsible AI development. This conversation will provide valuable insights for those working at the intersection of technology and impact.

Space is limited, so please RSVP by November 18th so we can plan for space and catering. You will need to bring ID for access to the building.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Your DC Impact for Breakfast Team,

Lisa Willems & Alix Peterson Zwane

P.S. We are grateful to Duke’s generosity in sponsoring a second event. We are looking for sponsors for either space and/or coffee for future events. Please email Lisa lisa@catalyticcap.com or Alix alix.zwane@Duke.edu if you are interested in sponsoring an upcoming breakfast.
