Although Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) had received regulatory recognition through the Tax Reform Act of 1969, it has taken until recently to see an explosion in this giving vehicle.  The National Philanthropic Trust (NPT) estimates $37.12 billion were contributed to DAFs in 2018, reflecting an 86 percent increase in contributions over the past five years.

We have an esteemed group of DAF experts that will discuss the following two areas of interest and concern.

  1. While donors receive the tax deduction immediately upon contributing to DAFs, they can take as long as they wish to recommend gifts.  This reality often deprives charities of the immediate use of the funds especially in times of need.
  2. With the growing popularity of DAFs, this may be the time to begin thinking of the alignment of the corpus of these funds to their grantmaking mission.

Our panelists for this webinar are Ted Levinson, Founder/CEO of Beneficial Returns, Barbara Wolf, Senior Financial Advisor at Abacus Wealth Partners, Margaret Berger Bradley, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Ben Franklin Technology Partners and Alex Neckles, Enhancement Officer at ImpactAssets.
