Financial inclusion for Self-reliance and Economic Resilience among Refugees, IDPs and Migrants

We invite you with great pleasure to another insightful Impact for Breakfast session, this time showcasing critically important work on refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and migrants. Developing World Markets (DWM) (an emerging and frontier markets-focused impact investor) and Innovest Advisory (a development consultancy focused on vulnerable communities) will discuss the complex challenges facing displaced communities and the potential for impact investing to offer solutions at scale.

The conversation will present the current gaps in humanitarian aid which sustainable capital can meet effectively while supporting livelihoods and generating a long-term positive impact. Specifically, we will also explore the role financial inclusion can play in building economic and livelihood opportunities for displaced communities alongside vulnerable host populations. Finally, the discussion will present examples of facilities and capital pools that are aimed at this issue, as well as financial institutions that have successfully scaled services to this distinctly important market segment.

Speakers:

  • Peter Johnson, Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner, Developing World Markets
  • Suma Swaminathan, Vice President, Developing World Markets
  • Justin Sykes, Founder and Managing Director, Innovest Advisory
