37th Impact for Breakfast Geneva

Poor diets are now the number one risk factor for morbidity and mortality globally. Scaling up proven nutrition interventions and improving diets by increasing access and affordability to nutrient-rich foods has substantial, positive health and development outcomes. However, in frontier markets, constraints – notably the lack of access to capital among agri-food SMEs – hinders the scale-up of promising approaches to bring nutritious, safe, and affordable foods to markets.
This invitation only breakfast – part of UNDP’s SDG Finance Geneva Summit – will look at what is a nutritious food; provide an analysis of demand for financing among agri-food SMEs in Africa; review new nutrition investment metrics; and describe 2 new initiatives, The GAIN Nutritious Foods Financing Facility (N3F) and the Hivos Food & Lifestyle Fund. These platforms are helping to bridge the gap between investors and agri-food investees and improve nutrition.

Speakers include:

  • Moderator: Judith Santbergen, AlphaMundi
  • Greg S. Garrett, Director, Food Policy & Finance; Head of GAIN Switzerland
  • Martijn Blom, Head Investor Relations, Hivos Impact Investments
  • Stella Nordhagen. Research Advisor, GAIN
