Start-ups addressing pressing global challenges have great potential to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “Tech for Impact” is no longer just a trend in Switzerland, it is a flourishing start-up ecosystem and home to top science and technology clusters. These impact-driven tech entrepreneurs bring forward solutions to create large-scale positive impact. Similar developments are reported from other ecosystems in the Nordics, Portugal, Germany, UK or Israel.
Notwithstanding the positive developments, achieving targeted positive impact is largely dependent on the presence and preponderance of viable business models. Meaningful investment demands a framework which allows for sound assessment that integrates commercial data with impact criteria.
