Early Childhood Education is one of the most cost-efficient and critical investments in human capital contributing to a country’s achievements in sustainable development. Evidence from developed and emerging economies converge on a set of conclusions, with the main take-away being that investment in the earliest years leads to some of the highest rates of return for families, societies and countries alike. The investment case is not only made with respect to returns but also with respect to the costs of inaction.
Children are central to sustainable development. The early years of life are crucial to establishing a sound foundation for cognitive, social, emotional and physical development for the rest of their lives. Events in the first few years of life are formative and play a vital role in shaping social, emotional, learning and health outcomes and in building human capital, thereby promoting economic productivity later in life.
Join Andrea Torres from Bernard van Leer Foundation (The Netherlands), and Diego Adame from the Lego Foundation (Denmark) to explore their respective experiences and achievements, and to reflect together upon how the Impact Investment community can make a definitive and irrefutable difference toward a ‘future-proof’ society.
