Dear Friends,
We are back from the summer break! Join us on 5th September 2018 at 9am (CEST) when Philippe Flamand from candi kicks off the fall Impact for Breakfast series with a session about an innovative approach to rooftop solar for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in Africa and Asia.

Space is limited! If you are interested in the topic, but unable to make it on the guest list, contact Philippe directly for an one-to-one meeting at philippe@candi.solar.

Session description:
A tiny fraction of the rooftop solar potential for businesses across Africa and Asia has been unlocked today, despite solar being readily available, easy to operate and install, reliable and, most importantly, able to provide power below the prices of all alternatives, including local utilities. This vast missed opportunity can be largely traced back to the fact these businesses (particularly smaller SMEs) either can't afford the upfront costs of solar or can't effectively access finance for rooftop solar.

By taking an innovative new approach to this financial, environmental and developmental challenge, candi has been set up as a means of unlocking this dilemma by providing a fully financed solar solution to SMEs that is commercially viable and able to scale effectively.

This session will profile a new way of thinking about rooftop solar for SMEs, the key lessons learnt so far in its implementation, and the scope for positive change that can come out of making this a successful business model.

About the speaker:
Philippe Flamand brings over a decade of experience within the finance and renewable energy space, and a global breadth from Asia to Europe to Sub-Saharan Africa. He spent several years in investment banking working with Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs across London and Hong Kong before focusing on his passion for renewable energy with SUSI Partners and responsAbility out of Zurich, managing various equity and debt funds investing into the sector globally. He thereafter formed candi, driven by an urge to fill the untapped potential of the rooftop solar sector in emerging markets.

Philippe holds a MSc in Sustainable Development from London School of Economics (LSE), a B.Bus.Sc (Economics Hons.) from University of Cape Town (UCT) and he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Registration can be done through this website (please log in to your account and click on "Attending" on the right) or alternatively send us an email (info@arthaplatform.com).

After the event, Daniel and Erik are available for an informal meeting with anyone interested in exploring potential collaboration.

We are looking forward to seeing you on the 5th of September!

Best wishes,
The Artha / IfB Team
